چکیده

To assess attitudes of previous sperm donors on donation disclosure to their own children/family and likelihood donate again knowing that direct-to-consumer genetic testing (DTCGT) provides linkage between genetically related persons, threatening the anonymity assured by banks past donors. A cross-sectional survey for two large from 1980-2020 assessed demographics donor DTCGT. Qualtrics aggregated responses; descriptive statistics reported outcomes. total 408 responded completed 1046 donations. Most donations (56.7%) occurred in 2010s; 26.2% 2000s. At initial donation, 33.9% chose anonymity. Financial compensation (40.0%) altruism (34.5%) were main motivations donate. Direct-to-consumer genetic testing: driving choice?

Direct-to-consumer genetic testing (DTCGT), which includes both the advertising and offer of genetic tests directly to the public [1], existed for many years before the, now famous, companies such as deCODE and 23andme made their appearance on the market [2]. However, the sharp increase in companies offering DTC-GT over the last 3 years has sparked much regulatory and ethical debate [3–5]. The ...

Despite a growing personal genomics market, little is known about how people engage with the possibilities offered by direct-to-consumer (DTC) genetic testing. In order to help address this gap, this study deploys narrative analysis of YouTube videos posted by individuals who have purchased DTC genetic testing for disease. Genetic testing is said to be contributing to new states of illness, whe...
